2. Then navigate to “taskbar” tab. (By default that will be on taskbar tab, if not then navigate to it.)
3. You will get an checkbox “Use small taskbar buttons“.
4. Just tick that option to decrease the height of taskbar in Windows 8 and use the small icon in Windows 8 taskbar or uncheck that option to increase the height of the taskbar of Windows 8 (default size of taskbar in Windows 8).
5. Now “Apply” all the changes and click on “OK”.
6. That is it.

move the cursor to the line between your screen theme and the task bar.....you will see the double-headed arrow.....use that that to drag the taskbar zone to the height/width you want it :)
Yes there is. Right click an empty part of the Taskbar, and left click on Properties. It reduces the height to roughly the same as on Windows 98.
